STACKABLE RINGS: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT STACKING JEWELRY + 5 TIPS ON HOW TO STACK RINGS

STACKING RINGS: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT STACKABLE RINGS + 5 TIPS ON HOW TO STACK RINGS

WHAT ARE STACKABLE RINGS?

Quick one, stack-able rings are just like a pile of pancakes, the rings are placed on each other. They stack one on another and you wear them all on the same finger. They can also be described as layered rings and they're part of layering jewelry trend. There are many terms that are used nowadays: stackable rings, stacking rings, stack rings, knuckle rings, midi rings, ring set, layered rings - they all refer to stackable rings.

Now any rings could really be considered ‘stack-able’ (stacking), I mean you could stack up anniversary bands (which would work well). The point is, there are no set rules when it comes to stacking rings. All what matters is the way they match on each finger and then all the fingers together on each hand. It’s all in what you like (and how many you feel comfortable wearing.) But keep reading and you will get some tips on how to as well!

 WHAT IS STACKING JEWELRY?

The stacking means layering multiple ornaments together for an accentuated look. When it comes to stacking pendants and necklaces, or even bracelets, layering jewelry is probably more accurate term to us. However, when it comes to rings, everybody would usually described them as a stackable rings instead of layered rings. Generally speaking, stacking jewelry, or layered jewelry is a new way to combine multiple pieces of jewelry to attain a fancy unique look. Stacking rings are the biggest part of the stacking jewelry trend as there are simply plenty of possibilities of combining different fingers on each hand, or what is more, on each finger. Therefore, searching for a "ring set" nowadays means something different it used to mean a few years ago.

WHAT IS A STACKABLE WEDDING RING?

Because there's usually only one wedding ring, the stackable wedding ring is a set of multiple rings that sit or nest together in group form. This way women can wear all of their most important rings on one or multiple fingers. This includes wedding rings, engagement rings, and other additional rings, such as MIDI rings, but mostly anniversary rings. To crown it all, the wearer can switch or add bands to express personal marks or style special occasions. It can be also called a ring set. A ring set used to mean a set of two wedding rings for man and woman but with the stacking rings trend that has already changed.

WHAT IS A KNUCKLE RING?

First, the knuckle is defined as a joint of a finger when the fist is closed.  Another name for a knuckle ring is tearing. Furthermore, Knuckle rings are worn above the middle finger instead of wearing the ring low on your finger.

WHAT ARE THE BEST STACKABLE RINGS?

To be honest, the best rings for stacking are obviously adjustable rings. Here you don't have to worry about the size plus you can wear and stack them on all of your fingers. Be aware to avoid the real cheap models as they won't last long and come out of shape quickly. Rather, look for slightly higher prices at genuine jewelry manufacturers. Of course there's nothing wrong with buying a set of rings for $9,99 at Amazon, just don't expect them to last longer than a few weeks, if not days. Check the video below to really understand how resizable rings work and what are the pros and cons.

WHAT DOES A MIDI RING MEAN?

To start with, midi rings are also known as tea rings or memory rings. MIDI rings are mostly worn midway between the tip of the finger and the first knuckle of the finger. The midi ring sit on the finger above the lower knuckle. Although the style is characterized back to the time of chivalry and knighthood in the Middle Ages times, when they signified one being wealthy enough to not have to do much manual work, midi rings have become the “it” statement in accessories just within the past year. These classic rings are able to take on new life to add a fun twist. Pair a solid gold ring with a delicate silver midi ring above it. By having nothing else on your hand, you are making this your staple piece and showing off a cool way to mix metals while doing it! The simplicity of this is really what makes it such a signature piece. Want to find out more about MIDI rings? We made a special article on MIDI rings here.

STACKABLE RINGS: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT STACKING JEWELRY + 5 TIPS ON HOW TO STACK RINGS

It's clear and obvious, most celebrities, models and anyone who have stalked as many red carpets as we have! This season it's all about the layering of the rings and we are here to help you get the look for less with our Fabulist Find of the Week! Stylish and stack-able, midi rings offer a new and exotic way to adorn fingers. Midi rings are part of the larger trend of moving away from big, bold jewelry to smaller, more detailed and delicate pieces. They are usually tiny and elegant, but there are no strict rules- they can be larger if desired. Whether worn alone or paired with traditional, below the knuckle rings, these stacking rings are sure to grab attention and accentuate long fingers and polished finger nails.

Again to rock the ring, you don’t have to buy a special ring -  Just buy midi rings that is smaller in sizes from your normal ring size. Like bangles for the fingers, feel free to wear each on a finger. Celebrities like Rihanna, Heidi Klum, Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus have all been seen sporting the look.

CAN YOU WEAR RINGS ON YOUR KNUCKLES?

Knuckle rings are mostly worn above the middle finger. However, standard rings are different from knuckle rings. Having a knuckle ring enhances your fashion sense, draw attention to a good manicure and style.

Knuckle rings are different than standard rings because instead of

wearing the ring low on your finger, you wear it above your finger's middle joint.

If you use the right styles and select the ring that's right for you, wearing a knuckle ring can be the extra accessory that you've been searching for.

In addition, knuckle rings are sometimes referred to as tea rings, used for making a resurgence among contemporary trendsetters.

WHICH FINGER DO YOU WEAR STACKING RINGS?

To put it simply, on all of them. It all depends only on what's comfortable for you. First, start by paying attention to your fingers - There are no hidden secret or rule that guides or state the finger you should wear a ring or how many rings should be stacked on a finger. In conclusion the rule that guides the subject is balance. I recommend stacking three to four rings on my finger - a short stack of different sizes and a tall yet simple shape ring. In the photo example above, there're three rings stacked on the left index finger. Because this combination looks extra natural, most people are always asking me "Wow would you show me the ring?" simply not realising there are three of them.

HOW MANY RINGS SHOULD YOU STACK?

If you belong to rather traditional types, we recommend to stack a minimum of three rings - one for marriage, engagement ring, and external love ring (usually given during anniversary as a gift). But that's only a very modest way to start. You should go ahead and try to stack as many stacking rings as you like and as your fingers can bear! However, the number of the rings for stacking is not that important. All what matters is the balance and overall feeling from the whole hand. Keep reading for our tips on how to stack your rings and ring sets!

HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU SIZE UP WHEN STACKING RINGS?

Order true ring size if each band is 2mm or thinner. Order 1/2 size larger for bands wider than 2mm and if you plan on stacking at least three rings together. The reason for ordering the larger sizes is because the wider the rings stack, the more you need space for flexibility. However, this is very general advice, as each hand is very individual. In case this seems like too much hustle to you, check out some adjustable rings where you don't really have to worry about the size at all!

HOW DO YOU WEAR A LOT OF RINGS?

Keeping it simple should come first at this point. To keep it minimal, go face down and wear each ring across each finger. Applying the horizontal style of stacking allows you to create space in-between the fingers. You can also wear two rings on each finger and leave a little space between the two rings. The main point here is to feel comfortable with the rings. Of course, many of us don't really value comfort higher than the final look. The best way here is to experiment each day with different number of rings and watch yourself in usual daily situations. Some tasks such as grabbing something from your pocket might become incredibly difficult with dozens of rings on your fingers.

ARE THERE ANY HIGH-QUALITY STACKING RINGS?

As we have already said, most of the stacking rings on the market right now are usually very low quality cheap costume jewelry that won't last long. What's a real deal are high-quality genuine stacking rings that are designed to last forever. One of them is definitely ALLRING by Satinski. There's a mention about Allring in this article. This one-of-its-kind resizable ring already took part in serious design competitions and folks love it because of its versatility and durability. Check the video below to find out more.

5 TIPS ON HOW TO STACK YOUR RINGS

As we all know, it is quite easy to layer bracelets and necklaces. However, when it comes to stacking rings, it can be harder and trickier than it seems. Over the years, most celebrities like Rihanna, Chiara Ferragni, and Kate Bosworth have used different jewelry on the red carpet. However, applying too many rings or a wrong mix would make you look more like a little girl who has been playing with her mom’s jewelry box. Likewise, most well-known celebrities know that a beautifully executed ring/nail close-up can equate to thousands of Insta double taps.

1. KEEP IT IN THE FAMILY

Another word for keeping it in the family is maintaining the style and era. Dainty pieces embellished with crystals look classic with edgy geometric rings that have silver and turquoise stone chunkier pieces. Also, stick to one style to avoid cohesion.

2. LESS MATCHY, MORE SKIN

Think of the way the traditional wedding ring met up with the engagement ring next. Now, try to retry the opposite of the point mentioned earlier. Note - The aim is to show off the skin and the rings fixed in-between.

3. EASE OFF ON OTHER JEWELLERY

Pick just one piece of necklace, go wild with earrings and leave wrists bare for maximum impact then match your ring theme - a perfect high/low balance.

4. KEEP THEM CLASSY (TO BALANCE GEO SHAPES)

Bracelet or ring or necklace tends to move in cycles, just like ready-made-wears. The finer the ring, the better, which works perfectly for classy stacking.

5. MIX YOUR METALS

Today’s top-ranked jewelry comes in different shapes and quality “Silvers and Golds.” Now, if you try or apply the mixing method. The trick is to disperse them evenly (one hand is gold the other one hand silver is a big no-no) and use a piece that combines its all. Make sure the rest of your jewelry, say earrings, is a combination of both too if you can, for continuity.

BONUS - HOW TO ADJUST THE SIZE OF ADJUSTABLE RINGS

Adjustable rings are easier to resize but it must be done carefully and because they are adjustable rings does not mean they should be stretched anyway.

Unless you don't have your adjustable rings from Satinski, where you would always get an adjustable stick to any ring you order, here are the steps on how to adjust your ring size:

  1. If it doesn’t fit perfectly well and you want it to fit in, follow these three steps:
  2. Kindly use your thumb and index finger to slowly move the band inwards.
  3. Now, use your thumb to maintain the ring’s round shape by applying pressure at the top.
  4. Repeat the first two steps until the ring fit comfortably.

If feel like enlarging the size to make it fit through your knuckles, follow these three steps:

  1. I.Start by using your index finger and thumb to move the ring outwards.
II. Use your thumbs to apply pressure and  maintain the ring's round shape.
III. Repeat first two process until the ring fits perfectly well.

ADVANTAGES OF ADJUSTABLE RINGS

  1. Adjustable Rings are available in numerous designs that cope up with contemporary fashion trends.
  2. Can be reduced or enhanced to the size that is required without using any tool or equipment.
  3. Moreover, such rings can also be studded with gems or any other precious stone.
  4. The material normally used in the making of Adjustable Rings comprises gold, silver, platinum, etc.
  5. Can be further customized as per requirement.
  6. Can be adjusted with mass variations of the donning finger.
  7. As compared to traditional rings, Adjustable Rings are much more convenient to remove.
